Distance!

THEN:

There was a day when we drew pictures
In the air within our eyes
But not on the papers or boards.
We were just hopeful about the future together!

There was a day when we shed tears
All through our bodies and faces
But not on the floor or any part of this Earth.
We were so close to each other!

There was a day when we fought and hurt
All for the care we have for each other
But not about our own selves ever.
We were obviously concerned!

NOW:

There is this day when we can see each other
Only and only in our eyes, plain and simple
But not merely in front of them
We are closer than ever!

There is this day when you laugh while crying
As you go on and listen to my soul
But are unable to find me by your side.
We now talk to each other more than ever!

There is this day when you hear from me what you love to hear
Because it is our souls who are speaking
But not our misused rotten voices
And I say, I love you!!

It hardly makes any difference though I miss you!!!

Birth

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." - Confucius.

On 2nd May, 2005, I received an SMS on my mobile at around 3 after midnight. Technically it was on 3rd May, but for my kind of call center executives, it was professionally 2nd May. The message in the SMS showed the real concern that the sender had for me for at least an hour which, in fact, surprised me. Because I met this sender in the same evening for the first time in my life. When I introduced myself she told me her original name which she never liked, and after about 3 days, she asked me to call her by her favorite name that all 'her' people use, the reasons are what one can understand. 3 o' clock in the night was when we used to reach home from the office, a small call center in Hyderabad. The day on which I received this 'caring' SMS from her was the joining day for both of us, the first day. The message was, "Hope you have reached home safely.", and I responded through another SMS, "Thanks for remembering me for so long even after you reached home." Trust me, none of these two SMSs contained the real SMS language, funnily, we typed the complete words. That was the time when both of us started to think about each other. The consequence of theses SMS messages is, I can say, we fell in love with each other. As far as my previous way of understanding some enigmatic inclinations in life is concerned, I never believed in any love except that between parents and children, until about six months ago. And for now, I am waiting for the moment when we can actually start living together every moment of our lives. [It is ok if I have to go to the office for about 8 hours, because I will be sure that I will see her the moment I go home.]

Life has many miracles, for example, in the last week, there was a day when I woke up at 5.55 in the morning, 5 minutes before my alarm would yell at me to wake me up, like it does every day. Anyways, these miracles (not the above example, it is worth your forgetfulness) are worth anything in life. Technology created many tools to capture our memories, but I wish there was some kind of tool which could actually presume our daily life and find the really unforgettable and reverberating incidents pretty much in advance and capture them like a video camera. If it was possible, I would have been spending at least an hour watching them every day, not just me, but every one of us for that matter. Dear Scientists and Technologists, what's your idea on working on this kind of tool?

Life in Metro

Begin at Walmart, keeping it on the left, go straight until you find a cross-road and then take a right there. Keep going until the dead-end and the road turns towards left, so you too HAVE to. Keep going until you again find the road turning towards left and so on. This way stay driving and you finally find Walmart back on your right hand side. With a small amount of exaggeration, there you made a city tour of Starkville in not more than half-an-hour. That's the city I live in. It is cute as it is small. No worries, no loud honks blasting your ear-drums, no traffic jams, (no public transportation system too, that's a different thing!) no place has an appearance other than green, almost no place other than Mississippi State University. Like I already told you before, silence here is not simply boring but sometimes it is 'heartlessly' killing. Occasionally, you find some twisters and tornadoes and ice storms throwing a gesture on you like "hey dude, what's up!" I felt it is the right place to live in if you have unending intentions of performing research, because performing research involves reading two kinds of books. One, those you have been reading from your sixth grade, and two, those you have never heard of.

If I have to tell you the limits of my city, there is a lake in one corner of the city and Walmart on the other end. I sometimes think, did I actually reach USA or the pilot dropped me somewhere on a land as he was exhausted of flying non-stop for more than 14 hours, like I was. But I still find that the USA (or just Starkville, I am yet to know that.) has not yet developed as much as India is. They don't have any 'Chai-bandis' on the road-sides, forget them during the day, not even in the nights. Remember our country, there were many days when I used to have a very very hot sip of tea at around 3 early in the morning (I don't like many for this reason, please call this time as night, it sounds much more beautiful, isn't it?). Is this the same all over the country? My friends from different states will answer this.

In my view, there is only one huge or rather considerable difference between India and Starkville. There, you are forced to feel the presence of people around you. Here, you have to work really hard to feel the same. Despite all the drawbacks, I like this place, I would have loved it if I were here with "my" people.

What I don't understand...

Time is the school in which we learn, Time is the fire in which we burn. - Delmore Schwartz.

What I really don't understand is, the way life moves on and on, day in and day out, especially when I have no plans for a day. I might have realized the importance of planning a schedule for the day-about-to-begin in a couple of hours, after I started to live in this foreign land. No one around me ever cares what I am and why I am here or for that matter, anything about my existence in this world. How wrong it is to have got used to living like a baby that is spoon-fed every moment by someone or the other like a mother or a life partner, and to have acquainted a place all of a sudden where you get to hear a dog barking maybe once in a month. There must be a serious purpose behind the God's creation of silence on earth. Something like Einstein's Relativity, silence is a relative term, I guess. When there is no space for any more thoughts in your mind as it is completely occupied, what mind genuinely needs is, perhaps, silence. But, if it is like the so called 'idle brain', then the biggest rivalry seems as if it never perishes between a mind and silence.

All that I am talking here may convince the reader that I am usually victorious in handling time when I have many things to do and think about. That is rather a wilder task in my view. Again, talking about the relativity of this fourth dimension, time; one can say, if one is responsible to answer someone about the work assigned, that is exactly when time comes into picture like a needle pricking you at regular intervals of time. Probably, this is the reason that someone said, be the whole and soul boss of your own self. Because, if you have a boss other than yourself, then time is the only God who can save you. Anyways, I wanted to start, you can say, to practice my writing skills with my biggest incapability which I am failing indisputably to get rid of. One can comment on this if one has any ideas for me to achieve this goal of getting rid of being unable to manage time.
